Experience brings with it something special. Our guides have a passion to pass their knowledge and experience onto our guests. Founded in 1976, Kootenay River Runners made the first descent of the Kicking Horse River in 1980 and became the first commercial rafting outfit on this river, as well as Toby Creek and Kootenay River. Founding owners Daryl and Linda, of Kootenay River Runners were the first people ever to raft down the Kicking Horse River section called Portage and Shotgun. In fact, we are actually are the original whitewater rafting company in Western Canada.
